Consignment
At the Haitian Art Collection we try to make the process of selling your works as easy as possible.
One only has so much wall space and we encourage you to share the joy with your fellow collectors!
The decision to list your work with us is a smart one.
For fourteen years our South Florida gallery has been working with the public on a daily basis,
(and the fact that we own the name "haitianart.com" will tell you how long we've been on line)!
You'll know, after the initial contact with the gallery an approximate value for your piece, its desirability on the market and the best venue for selling it.
It might not be us... purely decorative works do best on e-bay, and we'll tell you that up front.
We'll be happy to showcase your works on our website, in the gallery or both.
We ask you to take special care in packing your treasures and we'll give you our suggestions as to US Post or UPS once you contact us.
Hopefully your piece will find a new home through us, but if not, return postage will be your responsibility.
Please read Steps 1 through 4. Any additional questions will be promptly answered.
Step 1: ACCEPTANCE BY THE HAITIAN ART COLLECTION.
We ask for exclusive rights to market your piece for the six month duration of the contract.
Before you send a work of art to the Haitian Art Collection, either send us an email, call us at 561-274-4446, or send us a fax at 561-274-4575 with the details about the pieces you want to consign.
The following information should be included with any correspondence, if available:
- Your Name
- Your Phone Number
- Your Fax Number
- Your Address (City/State/Zip)
- Your Email Address
- The Name of the Work
- The Artist's Name
- The Size of the Artwork (Length x Width)
- The Year the Work was Painted
- Condition of the Work
- A Color Photograph of the Work
We have very strict standards about the artwork that we accept.
If you call first, we can talk about the works you own and give you an idea about their approximate worth and what you can expect to receive for them.
Step 2: SEND US THE ARTWORK.
The fees for consignment are as follows:
- $35 Listing fee.
- 50% of the selling price if displayed on the website and in the gallery.
- 30% of the selling price if displayed on the website only.
Step 3: SALE OF THE ARTWORK.
After the artwork has been sold and the buyer has received the piece in good condition, you will be issued a check for the agreed upon amount.
Since all pricing agreements are worked out with you in advance, the check you receive will never be less than you expected.
Step 4: IF YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND. You retain full ownership
of the artwork while it's on consignment with us, and thus have
every right to change your mind and decide not to sell it. If
that happens, we ask that you give us two (2) weeks notice before
returning it. We may have already committed the piece to a sale,
in which case we would just be waiting for the new buyer to
receive the piece and approve its condition. If that were the
case, it would be too late for you to change your mind.
